What's on offer?

Core Workshops

Core workshops are weekly 2 hour long workshops which focus on a range of art forms. People have been working with prints, clay, pastels, glass painting, sculptures and many more – please see our gallery page to get a better idea! We ask people to make a regular commitment to one of these workshops and they take place at the following locations:

Netherton

Monday afternoons

Formby

Wednesday afternoons

Southport

Friday mornings

Specialist Workshops

Whilst you are on the Creative Alternatives programme you will be invited to attend specialist workshops. These are more focused on a particular art form and skill. In the past workshops have explored creative cooking, photography, indoor gardening and creative writing.

Outings

All Creative Alternatives participants are invited to regular creative outings! The outings take place approximately once a month. In the past we have taken guided walks with the Tate Gallery, visited the Walker Art Gallery and the Hope Street Festival, and we’ve been entertained by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra!

Mainstream Arts Programme

Sefton Council’s Arts & Cultural Services Section is responsible for the programming of drama and music performances at Southport Arts Centre, exhibitions at the Atkinson Art Gallery and community workshops and projects throughout Sefton organised by Arts Development. These programmes are designed both to appeal to the widest public and the more specialist interest and include some of the most exciting names in the world of entertainment and the arts.
