Meet the team

Philip WroePhilip Wroe

Philip is the Senior Arts Development Officer within Sefton Council's
Leisure Services Department and also has responsibility for the general
management of the Creative Alternatives programme. Operating within the
Arts Development Office, he is involved in exhibitions and events
programming, public art initiatives, arts-in-education projects,
community workshop programmes and the promotion of Arts Development
operations throughout Sefton. Philip is a practising artist with a
national and international exhibition profile whose work is represented

Elizabeth LovellElizabeth Lovell

Elizabeth is the project’s referral officer. She is a qualified person-centred counsellor with expertise in psychology. In the past Elizabeth has worked with Sefton Council for Voluntary Service supporting young people with mental health problems and/or disabilities to access voluntary work. Elizabeth has written and delivered training programmes on mental health awareness which break down the stigma of mental health problems and encourage people to consider mental health from a positive angle.

Jessica Bockler

Jessica is the project’s arts officer. She is a theatre practitioner and project manager with expertise in psychology and consciousness studies. Her creative works are nurtured by ancient and modern sources of self-exploration, from Yoga, to meditation, to expressive movement, to the work of Polish theatre director Jerzy Grotowski. Jessica is currently pursuing a PhD with Liverpool John Moores University, exploring ‘Theatre as Transformative Practice.’

All of our workshops are delivered by artists who we commission on a freelance basis. All of the artists have experience of working in community and health settings and each brings to the project a particular expertise, e.g. drawing, dance, sculpture, or photography.
